Oh my god, you guys. <insert wee-wee-jiggle>

It is HEEEEERE!

Well Fed: Paleo Recipes For People Who Love To Eat by my dear friend (I can totally call you that, right?) Melissa “Melicious” Joulwan.

I’ve never reviewed anything in my life before, but I really want to tell you about this book. Firstly, I should tell you that I paid for two copies of this book already. For real. No freebies, no nothing. I’m telling you about this because you absolutely need to get your hands on this book.

People who have read my blog know that Melissa is my go to source for all of my recipes. She has been since day one of this whole paleo thing. The way she likes to cook, is the way I like to eat.

It was a happy day when I found her blog and an even happier day when I finally got my hands on this book!

As a fan of the big weekly cook-up, I love Melissa’s section on the weekly Cooking WOD and how to make your meal times so much easier than you ever thought possible. I DARE you to have excuses about not eating properly after giving those hot tips a go. Go,go hot plates!

There is also a great section on spices – which I personally believe is Melissa’s specialty. She uses spices like no one else and honestly, if I can master that skill some day, I’ll die happy. Through out the book there are hints and tips on the spices to use to mix up the flavours of a given dish. I love that.

I was beyond thrilled to note that a number of my favourite recipes are included  – and they have been tweaked and improved for the book – Melissa also provides some cool serving suggestions which will give me some extra winning combinations for meals and new ways to enjoy my existing faves.

Importantly, as an advocate of squeaky clean paleo (Whole30 style, bitches!) I love knowing that out of the 115+ recipes, only ONE does not have the Whole30 tick of approval. That is a really high priority for me. I don’t need to make a single adjustment to make these recipes work for me.

The book is beautifully presented, with amazing natural light photography from Melissa’s husband, Dave and really beautiful design elements and layout by Kathleen Shannon. Super team, much?

OH! And there is a 30 page sampler for you. FREE! But I don’t think you’ll even need to bother with it, because I am sure that you will love, love, love the full version.

The book is available in both a printed, softcover version (175 pages) and an ebook (PDF) version, which I totally love, because postage takes SO long to Australia and I wanted access immediately!

Also, when you buy the printed book, you’ll find a code on the inside the printed book to download the PDF version for just $1 – which is a bit bloody special.

As a warm-hearted bonus, Melissa and the team are donating $1 from every PDF sale to Common Threads, a non-profit that teaches low-income kids how to cook in a free after-school program.

Pretty book + amazing paleo recipes + bonus charitable donation = SMART.SEXY.PALEO

Go buy it. It will automagically make you a badass (with a happy tummy).

JUDE! Thank you for this lovely review — and congratulations on writing your first one ever! How fun!

I’m thrilled that you like Well Fed, and I’m really glad to know that these recipes will make staying within the Whole30 guidelines easier and yummier.

Hugs from across the ocean.
Mel
